In the Valley, going to the mall to pick out a suit or purchase a present is not just shopping, it's an aesthetic experience: Valet parking, marble floors, classical music and a concierge are typical of the many amenities to be found at some of the Valley's upscale neighborhood shopping centers.

Active participants in community life, many local malls also sponsor enriching, educational and entertaining activities. Indoor walking programs get everyone up and moving, puppet shows and plays delight children of all ages, and book fairs, health exhibits, sports events and holiday festivities are scheduled throughout the year.

Beyond the malls, the Valley is home to numerous outdoor shopping centers as well as specialty shops. Canoga Park's Antique Row, for instance, contains a number of vintage stores selling everything from jewelry to classic furniture.

Ventura Boulevard, which stretches the length of the South Valley, has an abundance of wonderful shops and restaurants. You can walk along the boulevard in Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Tarzana or Woodland Hills until your legs give out, then take a break and have a meal at any of the top-rated eateries that line the street.
